I have no idea if anyone participates in this or not. HRC is a Harry Potter virtual racing event... club. Anyone can join, no membership fees or dues. You just pay $25 to register for a race and when you do you get a downloadable bib and a medal. Since it is a virtual race, you can run/walk/treadmill/jog anytime you wish, at your own pace, and can even break up when you run/walk/treadmill/jog. Currently they are doing their annual Platform 9 3/4 racing event. It's 6.5 miles. HRC is a nonprofit, and all of the money goes to other charities. This race the money goes to a charity called Carriers for the Future. Does anyone else do this?

One of my local independent book stores is moving to a bigger location soon. They are asking for extra help to cover some expenses. Let's Play Books specializes in childrens books. They have a lot of kid events and have authors visit the store to read their stories and sign autographs. As you know, independent book stores are rare these days. I’ve been giving my whole life. Volunteering, helping homeless kids. Helping kids who are cutters and whose parents kicked them out. Rescued six cats with medical problems/broken bones/abandoned.

I’m the giving tree that’s been cut down to a stump, and now there’s nothing left.

My family is pretty much broke so we can always use extra income, especially right now with the holidays coming up, I would love to be able to get my kids some Christmas presents. As most of you probably know, there was a massive earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, on Tuesday afternoon. The death toll is currently 123, and over 200 people are still missing.

help_nz is hosting a series of fandom auctions to raise money to help the people of Christchurch. There are two lightning rounds going on at the moment, one for offers and the other for requests, and the main auction starts on Monday the 28th. Please consider donating your money or talents to help out.
