Hi friends!

I know I haven't been around very much recently, but I have a super huge favor to ask of any of you that might see this.

I'm in a writing competition over on Dreamwidth that is based on Survivor (the TV show). I've made the Final Four (yay!), but I really, really, really want to make the Final Three and get to go to the finale. I figure this is as close as I'll ever get to being on TV Survivor, so I'd love to make it all the way.

But I'm pretty sure if I don't win immunity this week that my fellow competitors are going to vote me out, and the way we win immunity is getting the most votes in the poll.

So that said, if anyone wouldn't mind voting for me, I'd super, super appreciate it, and I would totally owe you one! It is on Dreamwidth but you can vote using your LJ account, and voting is open until 9p EST tomorrow (Thursday).

Since yesterday I haven't been able to log onto the hih website. I can't get it to load on firefox or chrome. Chrome says: This site can't be reached, hogwartsishome.com's server DNS address could not be reached. Firefox says: Server not found. Firefox can't find the server www.hogwartsishome.com.I know I am entering in the url correctly. I tried with my bookmarked url and entering the url in the search bar. Is anyone else having problems? Is it just on my end?

I had an idea for a blog that I am hoping for start - where I will post a photo, weekly, representing each chapter of the Harry Potter series.

For example, here is the first photo representing Chapter 1: The Boy Who Lived from The Philosopher's Stone

But I can't think of a good name. Any suggestions?

A user on tumblr named nelioe has created the Hobbitcon Fanfiction Project. It will be a book filled with fanworks featuring all 13 dwarves as a gift to actor William Kircher, who played Bifur in the films (see icon).

The deadline for submissions is approaching fast and she needs more fanfics. The following dwarves need more fics: BIFUR, BOMBUR, NORI, OIN + GLOIN. She's begging for Bifur fics in particular since it is a gift to William and it'd really suck if his character had the least amount of fic.

I'm having some trouble finding good quality time travel fics, especially on ffn. Anyone know of some good ones you'd like to share?

I'm pretty lax with my preferences but to give you some idea:
(Highest = most liked)
- Harry goes back to Marauder era.
- (Any) Marauder comes to 1990's Hogwarts.
- Any canon character + founders.
- Obscure era time travel

I don't mind Tom Riddle + Harry but it's not my favourite. And any founder fic recs are welcome.

Also:
-I don't mind long or short but prefer complete/non-abandoned. I don't mind WIPs though.

- I'm not fussy about genre - fluff, angst and anywhere in between.
- Preferably not written in first person.

Any recs or hood places to look will be much appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

Dear fellow HiH students,

I don't think my request will amount to much because it's a long stretch. But at this point in my life, I need to follow even the longest of stretch. Right now, I am working on my M.A thesis and like anyone who has done one or is in the process of doing one knows...it's a life sucking entity.

Because I am a stubborn person, I decided to chose a topic that I found interesting instead of talking the topic of my supervisor (which came with a set of data). Now, this means that I am left in the position of finding my own date which is harder than I had previously thought.

This is where I would love your help fellow HiH people. I am looking for people (psychologists, social workers, shelter staff workers, counsellors, mental health professionals, etc) to interview [nothing big and stressful] who have experience working in/with intimate partner violence/domestic violence/women abuse. I have a pretty wide definition so if you think you might qualify...or know someone who would be interested in helping me out with my research please help.

I was wondering if someone out there knew where to find RIFT LiveJournal icons.

Failing that, would an icon maker be willing to make RIFT icons? I play an Eth rogue, Defiant-side, and am trying to find art that does make me go :/ .

So here is the thing...my flatmates and I are currently growing a sink plant as we call it. It literally grew out of the little sink we have to put the dishes on for drying. We had one before, but the now ex boyfriend of one flatmate didn't water it enough over the weekend and it was so tiny and weak that it didn't make it. This one now is growing quite well and making us proud, but also highly confuses us. We have not too much knowledge about plants so the things we thought it could be are basically just the things we already have and it doesn't look anything like it.

I was hoping that maybe some of you have a better understanding of plants and could have a look at some pictures and maybe help us find out what it is we are actually having here.
